What Is The Full Form Of ATA? ATA stands for advanced investment technology. ATA is the older name of PATA. ATA is renamed Parallel ATA when newer Serial ATA was introduced. ATA is a standard interface which connects the storage devices such as hard disk, CD ROM, along with other readers on the motherboard.

ATA standards only allow cable up to 18 inches thanks to which it functions internally. It was designed to connect portable storage devices without using an outside controller. ATA has become the most typical and cost-effective interface which offers a speed. It’s basically made of wires and cable bus. It’s also known as integrated device Electronics.

The ATA standards are backward compatible. This means every version of ATA drives that are fresh or ATA may be used with older ATA interfaces.

History.

The very first version of ATA was developed from the company named Western Digital in 1986. It was known as ATA, but following the introduction of SATA in 2003 he became PATA. Both SATA and PATA are all IDE devices.

Functioning.

ATA uses 40 pins connectors on each cable side and 40 or 80 wire designs. One end is connected to the motherboard along with the other is connected to the hard disk. Advanced Technology Attachment uses a single Bus, but wires. ATA may be attached on two devices at a time, one is known as a servant and the other is known as the master.
