What Is The Full Form Of PAN? PAN stands for Permanent Account Number. That’s a card containing identifying ten-digit alphanumeric combination issued by the Income Tax Department of India. This card is issued by the Income Tax Department of India, under section 139A of the Indian Income Tax Act 1961.
The first 3 letters are a chain of alphabets, from AAA to ZZZ. The 5th character shows on the PAN card is the initial character of the surname or surname of the individual, in case of a”Personal” PAN card, even in which the 4th character is”P” or from the name of the Entity, Trust, culture, or organization in case of Business / HUF/ Company / AOP/ BOI/ Local Authority/ Artificial Judicial Person/ Government, in which the 4th character is”C”, “H”, “F”, “A”, “T”, “B”, “L”, “J”, “G”.
The 4th character specifies the holder of the card. Each holder is uniquely defined as below:
