The Full Form Of LCD
The Full Form Of LCD is Liquid Crystal Display. LCD is a flat panel display or video display that uses the light modulating property of crystals. It is used to display pictures use in several electronic devices available in the industry today. LCDs display arbitrary images and fixed pictures equally.
Arbitrary graphics are the general-purpose computer display graphics and the fixed images are used in digital clocks and calculators etc. It is mostly utilized as a computer monitor and Television set in the family. It has replaced the old Cathode Rays Tubes (CRTs) and lowers the power consumption.
LCD screens are more energy-efficient and they could be disposed of more than CRT. It is preferred to utilize in battery-powered equipment because of its energy efficiency.
How it works
It works on the principle of color emission of liquid crystals. Liquid crystals were found in 1888. LCD is an electronically modulated optical apparatus made up of segments full of liquid crystals. LCDs used liquid crystals and polarized light to display the pictures. When the electrical current applied to LCD televisions, there’s a big bright light that shines towards the viewer. It creates millions of pixels that generate pictures.
LCD is used in devices like:
- Digital clocks
- Gaming Devices
- Mobile Phones
- Smart Phones etc..
